Kim Bosworth started designing and creating hand-beaded jewelry several years ago, anticipating retirement from a life-long teaching career. Beading jewelry offered a relaxing way to unleash her creative side while feeding her passion for beads. Her artistry evolves around simple yet elegant original designs arising from a mixture of bead color combinations, shapes, and textures. She incorporates a variety of beads and materials: pendants, semi-precious stones, glass, crystals, fresh-water pearls, metal, sea-glass, polymer clay, wood or glass tiles, and natural shells that she collects from Florida beaches. Her designs include 3-piece necklace sets, bracelets, ankle bracelets, earrings, wine glass charms, and bookmarks. Her process lends itself to spontaneity which she feels produces a more creative and appealing design and sense of self-expression. Often it brings a surprise that is personally satisfying. Her intent is to create a finished product that captures both a traditional and contemporary look, pleasing to the eye.
Kim enjoys customizing jewelry to enhance a client’s attire or special occasion, whether it’s special pieces for a wedding or charm bracelets for holiday gifts. She often shares her talent with local elderly care facilities and displays her work at several arts and crafts shows and farmers’ markets throughout the year in Iowa and Florida where she and her husband spend the winter months.
Kim has a studio in her rural home north of Decorah, IA and in her winter home in St. Augustine, Fl.
